Tilda elephant
I am so excited about having my own sewing room (finally!), and it's beginning to look rather nice. Thought I'd show you the first project I completed in there, a toy elephant from the lovely book 'Tilda's Studio' ('Tildas atelier'). It was surprisingly easy to make, and I think it turned out pretty well!

Just can't get enough

Midsummer bouquet
I went for a walk on Sunday, in the fields around our village. Just me and what must have been all of Rabbit's friends and relatives, also out for a Sunday walk. I love seeing their little white bottoms as they jump up and down when they run away. I must have looked interesting to anyone who saw me, with my sunglasses on, in my wellies and carrying an umbrella. I was, as usual, well prepared for English summer weather, and indeed I needed all of the items above in the course of my short walk. But better than the rabbits, the sunshine and the lovely rain were the beautiful flowers I found. How I wish these midsummer flowers would stick around for a little longer, they make the fields and the side of the road (and my living room) so much prettier!

Coffee
I have only just started drinking coffee again. I used to depend on coffee to get me through mornings at work, but after I became pregnant I couldn't stand the taste of it. Just the smell would make me feel queasy. But I have recently started drinking it again, and enjoying it too, although with lots and lots of milk to take the sharp edge off it.

Midsummer
Midsummer- one of those days I wish I lived closer to the sea, and that I this evening would be sitting by a burning fire at the beach, celebrating midsummer. The British don't celebrate midsummer, the weather is pretty grey and the evenings aren't anywhere near as light as they are in Norway at this point. But I do have strawberries and proper Norwegian vaniljesaus, so things aren't so bad after all.
Happy midsummer to you!
(Yes, I do know it's technically not today, but the celebrations take place this weekend all over Scandinavia.)

Country Living
It suddenly went very quiet in here again, but there is a good reason for it! I have moved house, from busy London and out to the lovely country side. We moved to be closer to where we work, and we now live in a lovely little village with two shops, two pubs, a butcher and a bakery. Quite a change from where we used to live, but so far so good! We live in a really old little cottage with a big garden and a barn at the back. I'm very excited about this next chapter in our life adventure..
The best things have so far been:
- friendly neighbours
- birdsong in the morning
- peace and quiet
- lovely pub food
- lots of great walks, just outside our doorstep
- picking wild flowers
- having tea in the really lovely tea room in the next village
A very happy Monday to you all!

Red, white and blue
As this weekend is dedicated to Queen Elizabeth's diamond jubilee, the whole country is standing on its head. Yesterday was 'Red, white and blue' day at school and in the school grounds there was a big summer fête with lots of fun games, afternoon tea and an ice cream van. And, as you can imagine, everyone was dressed in red, white and blue.
