Happy weekend

Source: irenesuchocki

Today I'm dreaming of Paris; the cafés, the atmosphere, wine, lovely restaurants, romance, Montmartre, second hand shops, markets, art galleries, architecture....

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

One step closer...

I'm wearing these today, they are rapidly becoming my favourite pair at the moment. I bought them in a market for £15, didn't have many signs of being used and they're made by Hobbs. I normally don't buy second hand shoes, as they normally don't fit my feet, but sometimes it just feels right. I love red shoes and have quite a few pairs now, but they make me so happy every time I look down at my feet!
I'm one step closer to summer holiday, and only have one exam to go. I tend to get very introvert, moody and irritable when I'm stressed, and I must have been a pain to live with for the last two months. But when the one you love gets you some cheese cake and makes a heart on it with raspberry coulis it warms my heart so much it is impossible not to smile. I'm so lucky I have someone who does these sort of things, even when I'm being grumpy and unlovable.

Holga

My fiancée gave me a Holga camera for Christmas, and I've finally scanned the photos from the first film I took when we were in Scotland in December. I love the photos that Holga takes, I particularly love the photo that has a ghost in it.... Can you find it?

An engaged lady

An engaged woman is always more agreeable than a disengaged. She is satisfied with herself. Her cares are over, and she feels that she may exert all her powers of pleasing without suspicion. All is safe with a lady engaged; no harm can be done.

Jane Austen

I am indeed keeping myself engaged these days, apart from being engaged already:) I can't wait to have some time off and enjoy the weather without feeling guilty about it!

Birthday breakfast

It's my fiancée's birthday today, so we had breakfast in the garden. As tradition is in this house, we had salmon on toast and champagne with strawberries.

And then, of course, some cake. Happy birthday!

Growing vegetables

It's been a lovely, hot Saturday, mostly spent in the garden with Charlie Chaplin's autobiography, which I'm reading at the moment. And my fiancée. Absolutely lovely.

I've started a garden project lately. Well, I suppose it started yesterday when I planted the strawberries. I'd like to grow my own vegetables again. When I was a little girl, we had a vegetable garden. It probably didn't last longer than one year, but in my mind my childhood was filled with homegrown vegetables. And supposedly, most vegetables are quite easy to grow in pots. I've started with some basil, chives and rosemary, which strictly aren't really vegetables, but they are at least edible. I've bought lots of seed in the shop and now all I need is some pots to plant them in. Ah, I remember the joy of picking my own vegetables in the garden, and the joy of eating them for dinner. This corner in our garden will from now on be my little vegetable garden.

Our cherry tree looks so pretty against the blue sky!

Happy Friday!

It's Friday, the sun is shining, and it's meant to shine all weekend. Oh, bliss!

Things that make me happy today:
-it's Friday and the sun is shining!
-meeting a good friend for coffee later
-pretty flowers everywhere
-it's warm enough to wear a pretty dress and no tights!
-the birds are singing in our garden
-it's my other half's birthday on Sunday, which means there will be cake and champagne..
-I've received some pretty fabric that I'm really looking forward to making something of

I started the weekend by having some coffee in the garden, trying to recover from a bad headache..
I'm wearing a pretty summer dress covered in red roses, which makes me very happy.
And matching earrings, of course. And red lipstick.
I planted these strawberry plants yesterday, and I can hardly wait for them to grow some berries....
The garden is full of pretty flowers, and it makes me so happy!
Hope you'll have a great weekend!

Lovely

I love this lady, this song and the video. The sun is shining today and it's suddenly very warm and I've planted strawberries in the garden. So now I can only wait and hope, and in a little while I might be able to eat my own strawberries in my garden! Hurrah!

Today....

....I have been wearing my new, wonderful earrings from tinytasty.
...I have been drinking tea from my new tea cup that I bought for money I got for my birthday. It's from the Royal Albert's 100 year anniversary collection, and this pattern is from the 1930s. I love it! The tea pot was a Christmas gift from my other half a couple of years back. He is just the best when it comes to presents!

Old things become new!

I love finding old things in my closet, and transforming them into something new. Every now and again I go through it and get rid of things that I'm no longer using (get rid of as in giving away to charity that is), but some things I just can't get rid of and yet I don't use them.. So these things get to go through a transformation (how exciting!) to become something slightly different and new. Unfortunately I don't have any 'before' pictures, only 'after'.

This bag was pretty boring, but got a new life with some lace ribbon and a home made 'flower'. Even the smallest things make a difference.

I've had this t-shirt sitting in my closet for so long without being worn, but every time I got it out to give away I just couldn't. So I decided to give it a new life, again with some lace, and with a home made bow! It's no longer a boring t-shirt, it's now almost a blouse! And I love blouses!

Rodney Smith

These photos are amazing and so inspirational. And they remind me of Alice in Wonderland (I know, I'm having a bit of an obsession there). They're taken by the American photographer Rodney Smith. You can find more of his photos here.

Garden party

This weekend we had a garden party, to celebrate the Norwegian constitution day with our friends. It was a wonderful day, we ate lots and lots of food, drank lots of champagne, laughed a lot and ran around on the grass, playing silly children's games. And soap bubbles. There were lots of soap bubbles, too. It was fantastic. Laughing with friends, and watching them laugh together, really makes my heart all fuzzy and warm.

Hope all of you had a lovely weekend!

Good evening and good night..

There are few things that are better than making two cups of hot chocolate, with cream and marshmellows on top, lighting candles and watching something nice, like Sex and the City, on dvd with someone you really love.. I like that these cups belong together, even though they were bought in different shops far apart.
I bought this beautiful little candle holder at the Country Living Fair earlier this spring. It is hand made, but I can't remember by whom..

Good night to you all!

Golden Thursday

It's Thursday, and yet another sunny morning! I cross my fingers and hope the sun will last all day, and that it will be a little warmer than yesterday! Things that make me happy today:

-the sun is shining!
-I'm ging to the post office to pick up two parcels.
-I will have a cup of coffee in Scandikitchen, one of the places in London that Scandinavians go to get their Nordic 'fix'.
-It's not many weeks left now until I've finished college!
-these pretty shoes that I'm wearing today, that I got in a NoaNoa sale for very little money!

Hope all of you are having a good day, and that the sun is shining where you are!

Tuesday

Today, on a Tuesday which looked like it might be sunny but turned out to be cold and grey, I have made some bread. And tasted it too. Mmmmmm.... There are few things that make me happier than the smell and taste of home made bread!

I watched 'Pushing Daisies', which I've only just discovered. How did I miss this before? It's fabulous. Beautiful clothes, pretty colours, and oh so romantic that I want to cry. And pretty Anna Friel.
And finally prawns and spaghetti with rocket and lemon zest for supper. A definite favourite. And so simple and quick to make!

Hope you all have had a good day!
