Holga

I recently developed a few films from my Holga camera. I love how unpredictable the pictures are! I always get a few pleasant surprises. Most of these are from when we went to Aldeburgh last weekend.

This is one of my favourites.

Pictures from a weekend

The trees in our street look more amazing every day now.
Husband and I went for a walk along the Southbank, had lunch in Borough Market, drank mulled wine and enjoyed ourselves in the beautiful weather.

And my belt matched the trees.

Hope you all had wonderful weekends!

Finally Friday!

It's Friday again, I have another week of holiday to look forward to (we are lucky enough to get a two week mid- term holiday!) and the sun is shining. It doesn't get much better than that! Husband has been singing a lot this week, so we finally get to spend some time together in the next couple of days. We started the weekend with a visit from a couple of friends we haven't seen in a while, which was lovely. We had afternoon tea; cucumber sandwiches, scones, clotted cream and all. Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be just as nice!

(And I should probably get a new tablecloth for my table. This is a wax one, which is so easy when you spill as much as Husband and I do...)

Hope you all have lovely plans for the weekend!
Happy Friday to you and you and you!

Handbag

Our internet was down last night, and as I don't have a tv I thought I'd use the time to do something creative. So I made this handbag, which I'm very pleased with!

Pictures from a Sunday walk: Shaw's corner and Ayot St Lawrence

We started our walk at Shaw's Corner, which was George Bernhard Shaw's home for almost 45 years. Beautiful house, beautiful gardens. I always love seeing people's houses, what pictures they have on their walls, which books they have on their bookshelves. Shaw had a picture of Ibsen on his wall.

From there we walked along open fields..
We walked past lots of beautiful houses, most of them had lovely names like 'Oak cottage', 'The Old Rectory', 'Rose cottage' or 'Ayot Bury'.
We walked through quiet lanes...
Husband took this lovely photo of an old graveyard we passed. The church is gone and everything is overgrown with moss and ivy, and you can spot grave stones in between the tall trees.
And finally, after a couple of hours, we ended up in a pub dating back to the 14th century. Good selection of ales (I had lemonade, because I was driving. One is still allowed to drive in this country after a couple of pints, but I never take any chances..), nice restaurant and a big fireplace. Can not wait to go back there when it's freezing cold and the fire is roaring!

In the same village there is a ruin of a Medieval church and a graveyard with graves from the 17th and 18th centuries. I love old graveyards.

Hope you all had good weekends!

Aldeburgh

We went to Aldeburgh again this weekend, and it was as pretty as ever. Sadly my camera died after my first photo, so I had to use these photos from last year.. Aldeburgh was bathing in orange sunlight, the wind was brisk and the waves high. I took the chance to walk on the beach, breathe in the salty sea- air and look at the open skyline. I miss the sea so much. Having grown up so close to the sea, it feels really strange not hearing the sea gulls every day, and I feel trapped by the fields and lack of open water. It was wonderful to have a catch up, hopefully it won't be too long until next time...

Take a walk!

Take a walk and look at the beautiful autumnal light, colours of the trees, chestnuts on the ground, hear the sound of leaves under your shoes and breathe in crisp pre- winter air.

Happiness is.....

..coming home from a long day at work, followed by a long evening of lectures, to a home made steak and ale pie with a heart on top!

Finally Friday!

My plans for the weekend. What are yours?

Things that make me smile

- Ellenisia from Penhaligon's is my favourite smell, particularly this time of year.
- colder weather means I can wear this lovely jumper that mum knitted for me.
- this Marmite jar I found the other day. I love Marmite and I love vintage jars. Perfect combination!

- crisp autumn mornings when you can see your own breath.
- the smell of winter: a combination of smoke, wet leaves, moss and bark.
- the colours of everything when the sun is about to go down.

What makes you smile today?

Pooh and Boo

Another couple of projects I've been doing lately. Still trying to figure out the whole 'quilting' thing, so I made this cushion to try one technique. Pooh certainly likes it.

A new life

This old cardigan has got a new life with pretty purple buttons, and a new pocket! When I get fed up of the clothes in my closet, and I can't really afford to buy new ones, I do a little bit of thinking, sewing, cutting and adjusting and voilà- a new piece of clothing to wear!

Finally Friday!

Breakfast.

Summer turned to autumn overnight with a gale-force wind, and I have packed away all my summer dresses for now, hoping that the heat will not make a return until next year. I have had a very efficient day off; cleaning the house, tiding all my clothes, getting the winter coats out and doing quite a bit of reading for my course! This weekend wil be busy with lots of work and not much time off, but I will enjoy the little moments that I'll get. I'm also hoping that I will get a little time to work on my quilting project! Weather is perfectly autumnal; grey and cold and with lots of leaves on the ground. I'm loving the fact that I can finally wear my new Joules tweed coat that I got in the summer sale.

Hope you all have lovely plans for the weekend, and a very happy Friday to you!
