First Mother's Day

This Sunday was my very first Mother's Day! And a lovely day it was too. It started with Husband and F serving me breakfast in bed: pancakes and coffee.

I got a bouquet of my favourite flowers.

We had macaroons and Danish pastry for afternoon tea.

And I got a new tea cup for my collection.

What did you do this weekend?

Valentine

We didn't do much for Valentine's day, I'm not a big fan of the whole thing, but as I do like things heart shaped, I will take any excuse to make little hearts. So I made brownies, served on a Wedgwood 'Queen of Hearts' plate. Very tasty they were too! I used this recipe.

Weekend

I love weekend breakfasts. When you have time to do that little bit extra because you're not on your own looking after the baby..

Love

Husband and I in Paris, 2008.

It's been five years now. Feels like a lot longer, in the best possible way. I'm so happy and lucky to spend my life with him. He tells me I'm lovely, even when I feel horrible. He tells me I'm beautiful even when I look my absolute worst. He makes me coffee in the mornings when I get up and I'm grumpier than most people. He makes me dinner when I've had a long day at work. He makes me a flask of coffee when I have long evenings of lectures. He makes me hot chocolate and gives me lots of cuddles when I'm feeling vulnerable. He always makes a heart in my cappuccino.

I feel so incredibly lucky, and so excited to spend the rest of my life with this man!

Love

A childhood friend got married yesterday, and what a great day it was! Beautiful weather, good people, delicious food and great music. And lots of love! She was wearing a stunning vintage wedding dress, and the couple drove the prettiest little car..

Belle and Boo

I got these prints as an anniversary present from Husband. They're made by Mandy Sutcliffe, who runs the company Belle and Boo, and I absolutely love them! These are called 'Lost and found'.

Wedding memories..

We've finally got some of our wedding photos, and here's a little sneak peak... It's almost two months ago, but somehow it feels so long ago! The photos were taken by a good friend of mine, a very talented hobby photographer.

The best friends

Before our wedding I had a wonderful hen- do with the best friends in the world. They had planned the perfect day for me, and we drank lots of champagne, laughed all day and had so much fun I shall never forget it. I feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful group of friends, that have stuck together for a very long time. We don't see each other so much anymore, as we all live in different parts of the world, but I miss every one of them all the time. They know me so well, and we have shared so many things over the years, that they are almost like family to me. Hopefully it won't be too long until we move back to Norway so I can see more of them!

Honeymoon and lovely things

I am finally back, after a wedding that was even better than we had ever dreamed of, and a honeymoon in France with the man I love. We went to Alsace, a region in France near the border to Germany, which is famous for its cheese and wine. It is a very small region in a mountain range named Vosges, and consists of lots of very small villages not far from each other, separated only by miles and miles of vineyards. Their wine is fantastic, and so is the cheese. The most famous cheese is Munster, a very smelly cheese, which is absolutely divine.

I have spent the last ten days in these surroundings:

The courtyard outside our flat.
The vineyard we stayed on was very beautiful. They had a dog called Cayenne, who spent most of her time sleeping outside our flat.
Our courtyard.
Almost every hill in Alsace has a castle (or three) on it.

Wedding!

I'm sorry things are quiet here on the blog, but with our wedding coming up this Saturday (yay!) there are so many things in my head that I can't seem to concentrate on anything else. I promise I'll come back after it's all over!! Hope everyone's having a lovely summer!

Hen-do

I had my first of two hen-dos yesterday (I'm having one in England and one in Norway). It was such a great day, and just like I wanted it to be. My lovely best friend had organised it so nicely, and decorated trees with balloons, under which we sat and had a perfect picnic. She also made the best chocolate and raspberry cake- a definite favourite with the girls! I'm so lucky to have such wonderful friends..

Bubbles

I'm in Scotland and I left my camera at home, so today the photos are from We Heart It.
These things inspire me today:

One step closer...

I'm wearing these today, they are rapidly becoming my favourite pair at the moment. I bought them in a market for £15, didn't have many signs of being used and they're made by Hobbs. I normally don't buy second hand shoes, as they normally don't fit my feet, but sometimes it just feels right. I love red shoes and have quite a few pairs now, but they make me so happy every time I look down at my feet!
I'm one step closer to summer holiday, and only have one exam to go. I tend to get very introvert, moody and irritable when I'm stressed, and I must have been a pain to live with for the last two months. But when the one you love gets you some cheese cake and makes a heart on it with raspberry coulis it warms my heart so much it is impossible not to smile. I'm so lucky I have someone who does these sort of things, even when I'm being grumpy and unlovable.

An engaged lady

An engaged woman is always more agreeable than a disengaged. She is satisfied with herself. Her cares are over, and she feels that she may exert all her powers of pleasing without suspicion. All is safe with a lady engaged; no harm can be done.

Jane Austen

I am indeed keeping myself engaged these days, apart from being engaged already:) I can't wait to have some time off and enjoy the weather without feeling guilty about it!
